Okay, about two months ago I had a brand new fuel filter and pump installed. Last week I put new spark plugs in.
This week I get up in the morning, turn my key in my car, and absolutely NOTHING happens. I try a few more times, and I get a crank or two, then nothing. And everytime I tried after that, nothing.
So I take my starter out (by the way I have a 1996 Chevy Cavalier 2.2). I take it to Autozone to get it tested but it passes with playing colors. My battery is also 100% fully charged. My headlights work, and so does everything else that's electrical.
I also know my engine isn't locked up because I stuck a allan wrench on the alternator pully, and turned it and every pully turned with the belt.
Also, whenever I turn my key to start the car there's no sound other than a little click noise. It clicks once per key turn. My friend also said he hears another little click noise coming from another location. Both clicking noises are coming from under the hood, and both are near the firewall.
I've also tried knocking the starter with a hammer, still nothing. And I know for a fact that the starter is getting power from the battery.
Somethings happening somewhere between the key hole and wherever the wire(s) from the key hole go to. I've checked every one of my fuses as well.
I've talked over the phone with a mechanic and he's stumped. My grandfather (who is a retired auto-mechanic) is also stumped.
What do you all think?
