Sound like an odd match-up? Maybe on first blush, but if you look closely, these two founds do go head-to-head on features, functionality, size, and target market.
Which is why I'm so torn. I wasn't so torn until yesterday when I found that mobileplanet is offering the S710 w/T-Mobile service for under $200. That puts it competitively priced with a Curve w/AT&T service.
They both have full QWERTY keyboards (though, very different approaches). They both have good battery life, both have 2MP cameras, both are smart phones, and both have good media players.
The S710 is smaller but thicker, and the Curve is wider, taller, but much thinner.
The S710 is Windows Mobile 6, while the Curve is the latest version of Blackberry's OS.
The Curve is faster, but the S710 can be overclocked to be quite speedy.
Oh, the S710 can be overclocked. That just blew me away. It is so not a mobile phone at that point. It's a pocketPC. You just don't 'overclock' mobile phones!
The set of apps available for WM6 is probably much larger than for Blackberry, but I'm not sure how much so.
The Curve has a built-in 3.5mm jack for headphones, but neither has built-in FM radio which I crave. But the S710 has WiFi. That said, I'm not exactly how useful WiFi is to me on a phone. If I am near free WiFi, there's a good chance I'll have my laptop with me, right?
Both have similar-sized screens & resolution. I am not entirely sure which OS is more attractive. Both pale in comparison to the iPhone and Symbian S60, though, in terms of slick GUIs.
So, what's your opinion?
