L1-2 there is a minimal broadbased disc bulge with a tiny superimposed disc herniation of the extrusion type into midline.the central canal and nueral foramen are widely patent. L2-3 there is a minimal broadbased disc bulge at this level.the central canal is widely patent. L3-4 the central and neural foramen are widely patent at this level.no focal herniations are appreciated.there is mild ligamentum flavum prominence at this level. L4-5 there is a focal disc herniation of the extrusion type into central zone.the neural foramen and central canal are patent. L5-S1;there is a disc herniation of the extrusion type at this level in the central zone extending into the left subarticular zone.there is no significant central canal stenosis.the neural foramen are widely patent. impression;multilevel focal disc herniations.the largest of these are located at the L4-5 within the central zone and the L5-S1 level in the central and left subarticular zones.no significant central canal stenosis is appreciated.

Your MRI indicates that there are several bulging discs at several levels in the lower lurabar area of your spine. It does not indicate how large they are. The largest is located at the space between the L4 vertebra and the L5 vertebra. The "central zone" and "left subarticular zone" just describe the locations where the herniations have occurred. The good news is that the herniations are located where they are not bulging out into the central spinal canal, so the space within the canal has remained the same. (Stenosis is a narrowing of a space...in this case the central spinal canal.) Does that help?

What kind of symptoms do you have? Do they come and go?

thank you for your help i always have problems with my back but since july last year has not gone a way more pain when i move around i cant even work becouse it get so bad i miss to much time it was hurting my left leg but now my right one to feels like some thing laying on top of them alot from my nee to my toes my toes get cramps in them bad i cant get out of bed i go to specialist in aug. do you think this is bad becouse i feel like i am losing my mind i even went to mental doc.

It sounRAB like you probably have a pinched nerve at the level of your lower lurabar discs that is causing your pain in your legs. I'm sure your doctor will try to treat it conservatively first...physical therapy, possibly an epidural steroid injection (esi) to try to bring down inflammation and make more room for the nerve, maybe some type of oral medication.

While you are waiting for your appointment, take good care of your back. Watch your posture; avoid any activities that require bending and twisting (sports and every day activities like vacuuming) and be careful not to lift anything heavier than a gallon of milk. You can try putting ice on your lower back (below your waist). You can also use heat, if it feels better than ice...but ice would help with any inflammation. You could try taking a NSAID product like Advil or Aleve around the clock for pain.

Hope that helps.
