hello
I have very oily skin.
especially on my forehead and chin.
i get alot of pimples on my forehead chin and sometimes nose
i have been using proactive faithfully for over 1 and a half.
i also have some acne on my chest
Im 16 years old.

I'd suggest taking antibiotic. I'v used minacycline and doxycyline. Minacycline cleared my chest/back and my face very well, i was still oily tho. I got immune to it tho and recently switched to doxycycline, still waiting for the results. Maybe try Yaz as well. Yaz has a low dose of spiro in it so that should improve your skin, and it causes less oil production, i believe. Look into the straight up Spiro. I haven't had any experience with it because my mom thought derms weren't prescribing it anymore, but I'm pretty sure they do. I've heard that it works great.

And for things to do momentarily, steaming your face with a conair face steamer or something helps. Also exfoliate your skin, get a good scrub, I think that should help. I had really oily skin and I think i remeraber those helping me. Hopefully they will for you as well.

You should probably switch from proactive, maybe get a prescription for diffrin? A dematologist visit would be key. Good luck! I hope something helps.

I suggest not taking antibiotic until all other options are exhausted.

Savemeplease mentions that she became immune to minacycline, that means that particular antibiotic will probably not work on her if she becomes sick anytime soon. It's also less likely to work on people close to her. Antibiotics can also cause stomach problems and yeast infections, and these side effects might take a while to show up.

Talk to a dermatologist, figure out what type of cleanser or topical treatment is best for your particular skin. I've found aspirin (salicylic acid) creme works like magic for me, but your experience may be different.

Thing about antibiotics is that they work for everyone's pimples. They're dangerous, but they make the patient happy the first time. So, dermatologists keep prescribing them.

i agree with the above post. antibiotics are just a temp solution if they work at all.what worked for me was actually a very simple regimen that doesnt require a trip to the derm. i started using glytone mild gel wash (4.7%glycolic acid) and cerave moisturizing lotion(as opposed to other heavy irritating ones that cause breakouts) and my skin cleared up within a couple of weeks. my skin looks a ton better and the cleanser even helps to fade marks.

Yeah, I apologise, they're defiantly right. Antibiotics are defiantly a last resort. Enfuselle Acne Clarifying Complex by Shaklee (along with wash, toner, etc.) works wonders. It is especially good for teens and really helps get rid of pimples and decrease oil production. I'd defiantly give it a whirl.
