My pain started the day after Mothers Day. My daughter got me one of those ab balls for my Mother's Day gift. The next day I went for a 2 hour run and that evening did about 3 sit ups on the ab ball after the 3rd one, on the way back up lost my balance and put all my weight on my left thigh. That evening my leg somewhat ached maybe on a scale of 1-10 I would rate it a (2). However the next morning I could not move, I crawled to the bathroom in agony the hot bath soothed the pain somewhat. I did not have insurance at the time it happen so I waited 2 weeks to go and see regular doctor.
She diagnosed me without an x-ray or MRI. She said I had a herinated disc, and we should try the conservative treatment first. Meaning no exercise at all,and she made it very clear not even to walk my dogs a block, because I could permanetly damage the nerve. I have missed a lot of work, super depressed, tired of anti-inflammoties, anti-spams, anti-depressed, that I never got filled. Not to mention the pain meds. Well its been just about 4 months now, I have been to the ER Hospital twice in one week with the pain easily over a 10, I cannot no longer sit , walk, or stand for longer then max 5 minutes without horrible dying pain. I finally got insurance and have since seen a pm doctor and he had me have several MRI noncontrast ones and said that everything looks fine. I have been doing endless search on everything I can possible think of from nerves, fractures, and pirformis syndrome. I told both doctors that I truly believe that is pirformis I have the exact symptoms. They both disagree with me. My left butt cheek, my entire thigh, all the way to the front of shin kills with pain.
When I get up to try and walk my shin goes numb instantely. I must go on disability, the pain is not getting any better. Please if someone has any information or know someone who has gone through something like this please let me know. I am still bed ridden.....

Hey Surfer from Sunset Beach, I am an old surfer from San Diego... Welcome to the HealthBoards, I hope we can offer you some answers.

I am responding to the part about your struggle with diagnosing your pain, and getting it treated. I have spent the last 9 months trying to get an acute pain under control, and sitting here in agony as I type this. I find getting on the computer helps keep my mind off it. Just know you are not alone, and I really hope the next poster will give you the answers you are looking for.
