i went into hospital with stomach pains.. had a laproscomoy with turned into an open appendoctomy because i had burst appendix and peritonitis and all the pus was in my stomach and pelvis.. had a drain in my pelvis which was eventually taken out. then i went home after 9 days in hospital but still had pain under the bigger scar. i had an ultrasound before going home which did show one collection of fluid but doctors said my body would most likely heal it without treatment. i went home and went to the doctors the next day to get my stitches out, after i had the stitches out, fluid started leaking out of a open bit on the bigger scar. we left it for a couple of hours but it didnt stop leaking, we rang the hospital who told us to go back in. i had a temperature so they kept me over night. the next morning i had a ct scan which infact showed i had 5 collections of fluid, quite big ones but 4 of them were all behind different organs in my stomach so werent visible on ultrasound.. i had an epidural and an emergency operation few hours later. i went down to icu for a week, and slowly started to get better. i went home after a month, but a week later i was back with pains. another ct scan showed another small abscess on my left ovary and i had an inflammed right kidney, antibiotics managed to treat this abscess and i was only in hospital for a week. now im at home i still have pain and im worried that im dismissing these pains as 'surgery' pains when they could infact be another abscess. also im worried about the ct scans, ive had 2 in around 5 weeks.. is that not dangerous for someone of only 16?? help thanks:confused::wave:

Where are your parents? Since your appendix did burst your abdomen filled with infected fluid. It is very often hard to get rid of this fluid at one time. You need to keep informing your parents and the doctors of all of your symptoms.
I would not worry about the amount of Cat Scans that you are receiving, you really need these to help pinpoint the infection so that they can be treated. When you have an abscess, they use the cat scans to help them go in and drain the fluid from the correct place without doing further damage.
I know that you have been throught quite abit for 16. Do exactly what the doctor tells you to do and please get extra sleep and rest. This will help your body heal.
I hope this whole episode will be over for you soon and you are back to being a active teenager.
Let me know how you are doing.

I absolutely agree with Shisslak, also drink plenty of fluids, water, juice, tea etc., rest, sleep and take it easy. Pay attention to your body if something doesn't feel right tell your parents. Don't let a doctor tell you that it will go away, get another opinion if possible. Good luck and take care.
