Help With Windows Media Player?

I tried downloading songs from a cd onto my computer, but a window popped up saying,

"The selected file has an extension(.4ma) that is not recognized by Windows Media Player, but the Player might still be able to play it. Because the extension is unknown by the Player, you should be sure that the file comes from a trustworthy source."

Then it asked me if i wanted to play the song. I clicked yes. Then another window popped up saying that WMP couldn't play the file. The player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file. I changed the extension to .wma , but the same thing happened. Is there a way to fix this so i csn get the music onto my computer? If so, please tell me. Thanks.

windows media player doesn't accpet .m4a file. so change the .m4a file into mp3, wav file that windows media player understands.
