Help with Viral Infection

Went to the DR last night after 9 days of feeling like crap. Did a CBC and told me I have a viral infection and nothing they can do. told me tamiflu might help and gave me some of that. This is the 2nd time with a viral infection in 4 months. I cannot believe they cannot do anything for me when I feel this miserable. Aren't there any antiviral drugs they could give? Just want to know if I should press this issue. thanks. I am so tired of feeling like this and then being told there is nothing they will do

unfortunately antivirals only work if you take them within 48 hours of getting the virus, otherwise no.. it's tough when you have one that runs a long course. A friend of mine's daughter is dealing with a long tough virus at the moment and he thinks his wife is getting it now.. just hope it doesn't jump to our workplace!! I hope you feel better, the best medicine is lots of rest and eat lots of fruit/Vitamin C! Also Chamomile tea is great for helping you sleep and to reduce inflammation and congestion.

thanks for the advice. I just started taking emergen-c as recommended by my dr and get my electrolyte test that comes back tomorrow.I just can't believe this infection wont' go away

well they told me i have no electrolyte imblance and today I feel like I just want to crawl under a rock. I drink fluids all the time and my tongue is still really white and have a headache all day. I just want to feel better so bad. It's been 2 weeks not sure if I should go to a different dr

well...viral infection is pretty broad. Have they checked you for lyme disease and things like eptein barr or mono? they should be able to narrow it down a bit more. There isn't much we can really do against viruses, but if you know more specifically what it is...maybe you can at least get some tips from someone on how to make it thru the day better.
