Help with science/biology fantasy story..?

I really need some help right now.
Ok so for humanities we are supposed to write this sort of fantasy of ourselves being a super hero. However, in science we are supposed to somehow make our superpower into a 3d diagram. For my superhero i am able to fly with wings. I would like some help with how i can explain how i have wings, how it somehow comes out of my body. My teacher was saying to use spine, but i don't see how i could get wings from vertebrae. What part of my body would they come from? Also would i have to use my brain to make it function?
If i made it clear enough please help, explain in lots detail (i don't mind reading allot)
This will also help me with writing my story.

I think i want it to like kind of come out of the shoulder blades but where would the extra bone come from? are birds' bones in the wings made from stuff like cartilage or its just bone?
Its going to have arms
 
I don't know if this will help, but the wings may be most likely placed according to the anatomy of birds. I personally don't know the anatomy of birds, but you may want to compare the bone structures of birds (or bats) and humans, and go from there.
