Help With Samsung A900!!

Ok, I realize this is my first post, and I really didn't want my first one to be a cry for help (I was aiming for some sort of contribution or tutorial or something for my first post), but now I don't really have a choice.

I bought this A900 with a bad ESN (purposefully) to flash it over to cricket. Before I purchased it, I read first and saw that a lot of people have successfully flashed these over to Cricket without too much of a problem... Maybe with the exception of WAP and MMS of course.

Ok... so I used this utility I found on another forum (just called SPC.exe) to read the SPC and set it to 000000.
Then I used UniPST (by the way, I found a slightly stupid solution to running it on Windows XP if anyone's interested) to load the same PRL I used on my LG vx8300... So far everything seemed fine.

So I tried *228... apparently this phone doesn't like *228, so after some research, I discover that I should try *2 or *228xx.

*2 gives me "Welcome to the American Roaming Network. Your phone is not currently registered in this area... Blah Blah Blah"
*22801 gives me Alltel's OTA...

I know this is the right Cricket PRL, I use it on my vx8300 and have used it on a vx9900... I have also tried other Cricket PRL's... One gave me Verizon when I dialed *2.

After trying what I considered EVERYTHING, I even flashed it to an A900m and repeated all the settings! Has anyone else run into this problem? Any suggestions?

if you are sure you have loaded the prl, then you do not need to *228...that is just OTASP...you can manually program the phone...usually you dial ##SPC# with samsungs to program the nam settings...sometimes setting the spc to 000000 breaks this feature on samsungs...if you are not sure that your spc is all 0's, then use bitpim to read the filesystem and navigate to nvm\nvm\nvm_002 file and get your spc that way...it will e one of the 6 digit nurabers (usually the 2nd)...

this is all pretty basic phone flashing info, so if this info doesn't get you going, then you should try reading trying a few things on your own...all the info you need for this stuff is out there...also- you should be able to use qpst with this phone.

Trust me, I've done a LOT of searching already.
QPST says "Could not read NV version nuraber from phone"... Not needed anyway.
I feel like such a noob since you told me *228 isn't needed. I was flashing it back to A900m while reading your reply, once that was done, I loaded the PRL, set the MIN and MDN and it was done, lmao. Oh well, guess that's part of learning.
I was so stuck on getting OTASP working that I didn't try just dialing a regular fkin phone nuraber

Talk about bad impressions :) I swear this isn't like me.

Anyone know where to get some other firmware for this phone that isn't Sprint? I'd like to get WAP and MMS working if possible.

as far as i know this device is not compatible with cricket's wap and mms...i'm guessing that means there are no other carrier's firms...if you fiind, maybe you could let me know and i'll get one and write you a tutorial...i've only ever had one of these and flashed it, then flashed it back and sold it as sprint...

i realized when u flash sprint phones over to cricket it wont work unless u put in a matching min and mdn
had this problem with a a900 and a fusic...(man i hate sprint...)

but yea u have... make sure u have the right sid and a matching min and mdn
