help with ringtones

I just got a 3586i and in the manual it says i can't get midi tones only buzzer tones through sms. Does this mean the only way I can get new poly ring tones for my phone is through the dku-5 cable? If there is anyway around this please let me know because I'm way too broke to throw down 50 duckets for a cord just for ring tones. Any help is much much appreciated!
 
I'm sure that can take monophonic ringtones at least cos i can't think of any fone that can't play a ringtone
