hey..i just bought a honda civic (97) and the idiots that owned it before me have ruined the wiring...the lefts is wired to left....front to the back and only the right hand speakers work. They also earthed the car to the ariel lead...
Any way i have no idea hown to rewire a car though i am comfortable taking the dash off to get to the wires ect... is it alot harder than it seems and are there any tips you can give?
im trying to put a new head unit in and i got new speakers wired up already too.

Firstly, remove the battery earth lead! Wire a good 12Volts positive from the battery + terminal, immediately into an 8AMP fuse. Then to divide this wire, one will be for the head-unit memory, one for the power for the unit. You will need another lead if you have an electric aerial.
Somewhere on the vehicle chassis, away from where feet could catch it, (but inside the cabin is fine - just look out for wires and fuel/brake lines) drill a hole and screw-fit the Earth terminal for the head-unit.
If you have fitted new speakers, with wires coming from them, and they are correctly "in-phase", all you have to do is connect them, probably into an ISO connector that comes with the unit. Any of the old wires, rather than ripping them out, you can just cut them off and wrap them with insulating tape, to ensure they cannot connect to anything else.
It is easy to wire in a stereo, I have done dozens. Just take your time!
