'Summertime'

When the air turns warm
and all the trees so green,
this is the most beautiful
time that I've ever seen.
The sun stays out longer,
and takes its time to set
letting us enjoy the water,
swimming and getting wet.
The want we feel is catching,
leaving smiles on everyone,
having so much endless fun,
until each hot day is done.
The barbeque's, the endless lemonade,
the great concoctions that we made,
All these things it seems, are apart
of whats so deep inside my heart.
To lay under the starry sky at night,
to dream of being that bird in flight,
to have a camp fire and sit in its glow,
are apart of this special time I know.
Until the days begin to shorten their stay
and the air carries a chill when it blows this way,
it's message starts to show its goodbye,
all I can do is close my eyes and sigh
Why all these days that are filled with fun
must again, say goodbye to everyone
another year until it makes its show
then sorrowfully, it's time to go.
Back to school, and cooler nights,
back to dreaming about summer delights.
