I need help with problems like these:

(a^2 b^ -3 / c^ -4 d^ 5) ^6

sorry it's kind of hard to understand because it's hard typing them out. I thought that when you're multiplying exponents, you're supposed to add them? But I'm on this website looking for practice problems and they showed the answer and they multiplied the exponents. Why?

This is for Algebra 2 by the way.
