Help with my Toyota Corolla 2006?

Ok. In Florida we had this huge storm, one that had about 3 inches of rain. The puddles were huge in some places, and our car splashed through all of them and got home ok. The same day we try to start it and it makes a loud buzzing noise. So we decide to let it dry out.
The same thing happened to a friend of a friend and he just jumped his car then drove it around until the engine was all dry, and the car was fixed.
Yesterday we did that, and it drove around the neighborhood. The fan and clock went on and off several times. It got home, we parked, then tried to start it again. Same noise.
Today we jumped it again, drove around longer and the fan only stopped twice and the clock stopped once. We got to our street and literally 3 feet away the engine temp nearly hits the red zone. We get into the driveway, turn off the car, wait a few minutes, and try to start it. Now a tiny little sound comes on then nothing. Now my dad is trying to reset the electrical wires by taking them out and putting them in and seeing if that is the problem. (That worked on my '99 Civics' Radio) Oh, and the light on the battery is green, which is good:)

What should we do? We probably are still taking it to the dealership tomorrow, but I would like to know if this is an easy fix.
 
if it over heated while moving check to make sure the belts are still on check to make sure the battery is good < not by looking at some eye piece >
 
I had a '99 Tacoma that I drove though river water in when it flooded into the streets. It stalled out and lost all electrical functions and the engine made the same noise. It did it several times to me, and it stopped doing it after I brought it to a car wash that washed the undercarriage. You might want to try that before you bring it to the dealership.
 
sure its an easy fix... you only fried the ECM... it doesnt know what to think... never drive in high water... lucky you didnt hydrolock the engine
