help with my toyota 4runner?

my 1996 toyota 4runner makes a loud whining noise when i push on the gas medal its almost a whining rubbingn noise it goes away when i let off the gas someone told me to check the throwout bearing but my car is an automatic and im not even sure if i have a throwout bearing lol help plz
