We were given an assignment to write a scary story in English. I have mine started up to the end- but Im not sure how it should end. If anyone has any ideas on how to make the story better as well as ideas for an ending to it, that would be greatly appreciated!!

She sat in her room. It was getting late; the Internet side tracked her from the time though. She had yet to start her homework and it was nearing 11 o’clock. The silence was dreadful,. This is how it was in her house even when someone was home, even the slightest noise would echo itself making it much louder. At this point, her parents were no where to be found, but she was used to that. They were usually home around midnight due to their business that they opened all the way downtown. She understood though, in fact she actually sort of enjoyed being alone most of the time.
Tonight was different, there was an unusual vibe that she was getting, she was unable to put her finger on it, something just felt ..off. It was extremely windy outside. She sat in her room browsing the Internet and procrastinating on her social studies homework. She could hear the sound of the wind blowing through the trees outside of her window, it resembled someone screaming. She heard an occasional thud coming from the basement that startled her the first few times but after checking it out the first few times only to see her cat messing around in the basement she blocked the thuds out of her heads. As the thuds grew louder she couldn’t help but fell a little frightened. She picked up her phone and dialed her moms number quickly for some reassurance as she closed her door and climbed in bed. The phone rang a few times then was sent to voicemail- of course. What’s the point of having a cell phone if you’re never going to answer it? Jeez. She sat still as a statue in her bed for a few minutes. She couldn’t help but feel like something wasn’t right. Her phone began to ring. She jumped, when did she turn the ringer up so loud? She answered it to hear her mother’s soothing voice to tell her that they were on their way home now, and asked her if everything was alright. Before she could respond, there was a click on her phone- someone was on the other line. As she answered the other call, she heard the sound of her front door slowly unlocking. Although she heard this sound, her brain was unable to process what was going on. “Hello?”, she answered. It was her next-door neighbor, Kyle. Very nice family, she sometimes babysat for them, they paid good money as well. There was panic in his voice. He sounded like he was trying to keep calm but she could sense the slight worry in his voice. “Is everything ok, do you need me to watch the kids, Kyle?”. She froze- his words chilled her- she was frozen still, unable to move. Her blood began pulsing through her veins; it felt as though her heart was about to burst out of her chest. Kyle was trying his best to calmly tell her that they had watched a shadowy figure enter the house. They were unsure whether they should be worried at first but after they saw him try multiple ways to get in they knew that it was none of the residents. He had already dialed 911 and his instructions were simple- quietly walk down the stairs and run across the street as fast as you could, the main goal was to get OUT of the house safely. Well, easier said then done. She was barely breathing. This kind of thing only happened in movies- or so she thought. Hundreds of situations replayed in her head in a matter of seconds. She was unable to decide what to do. But she could hear slow footsteps coming from downstairs.
