Help with high school sports?

I'm thinking of joining the volleyball team next year. I'll be a freshman in high school, but I've never played volleyball before. I don't have a net in my yard or a volleyball, what are some things I can do to start practicing?

You've never playing volleyball before, but you want to join the high school team... that's kinda a long shot.
Try to find a volleyball club, or just find some place to take classes or join a team or something. That helps a ton. make sure you practice a lot, start working out your arms a lot, and just overall, getting in shape. To practice at home, i would recommend the volleyball pal.The Tandem Sports® Volleyball Pal allows you to practice for hours without the help of another person. It consists of a waist strap with a VELCRO® brand closure, a neoprene pouch to hold the volleyball and an elastic connecting cord. The smooth action of the cord guides the ball back to you every time.

I'm in the same spot too, I would start running to build up your endurance and doing come crunches and pushups just to build muscle. Also you can practice setting to yourself against a wall and see how many times you can go in a row without missing one. Also you could hav esomeone pass you the ball and you could bump/pass it back to them. you could work on your control and how accuratley you can get the ball right back to them. Also you should practice your over hand serve. Make a mark with tape or chalk on a wall at about 8 ft., the nets actually 7'4'' but it will help you if you try to get it higher. Then start to hit it iver the mark from 5ft, 10ft, 15ft, and eventually 30ft. you really do need to get a ball though to do any of these drills!!
