Help with goldfish eating guppy!?

I am getting rid of my goldfish, but at the moment have a large fancy goldie, 1 large oranda, 1 small oranda, 5 danio, 4 mollies and 4 (now 3) guppies.
Last night when I was feeding the fish I noticed that my goldy ATE one of my guppies.
They are very small and my goldy is huge, I know it's my fault, but my questions are:
1) How long can the goldies stay in a bucket? I don't have any extra tanks/filters, but Im trying to find them a temporary new home until Friday. I have an air stone and some plants that can go in, and I can do 35% water changes whenever, I just don't want them to die!
2) Could I have saved my guppy? His entire tail was gone, but there didn't seem to be any damage to his body. He is dead now, my dad euthanized him, but I'm just curious.
I know they grow to be huge, which is why I'm giving them to a good home or putting them in my grandmas pond, but I cant put the guppies in the bucket because I don't have a spare heater and then my mollies would get ill.

And yeah i know they eat whatever is smaller, I just didn't realize how small the guppies were and how big goldys mouth was.
