Help with facebook on nokia c3?

hi there a quick query on behalf of my bf. I recently got him a Nokia C3-00 and added a 500mb internet bundle to his mobile phone contract if he was to leave the facebook app/shortcut that the C3 has logged in constantly would this be using his internet and eat into the data plan and end up costing him as it would go over the 500mb from being left logged in all time or would it not affect it? same with email would that be the same?
