Help with Brazilian biofuel history?

I'm doing a project for school and im having trouble finding events in Brazil's history that relate to the orgins of biofuel, especially how it connects to Brazil's economy. if you know anything or anywhere i can find info about this, please list it and your source (like website). thanks!

After the Oil crisis in 1973, the Brazilian government ordered the transition to bio-fuel to ease dependence on foreign oil. Also, they have great resources that lend to the production of alcohol which of course is the key component.
