After extensive amount of research I decided to by my younger sister (who is 15) a Betta fish. From what I have read they are the least amount of maintenance. We made sure that we bought the tank the day before we bought the Betta, made sure it was set to the right temperature, etc. When we first got the Betta he was a dull pink color and we were pleased to see that about 2 hours after releasing him into his new home we turned a deep red. But a week later we noticed that he hardly swims around, his fins are slightly clamped, and he has some discoloration on his head. We also noticed that he hasn't been eating. When we put food into his tank, the Betta went after it but spat it out. We changed all the water and cleaned the tank, but there is no change in his behavior. After looking online to see what his problem might be we thought it could be that he was depressed, but he is still building bubble nests. My sister is really upset and because I bought it for her I feel responsible for making sure he is healthy again!! Does anyone have any ideas???
