Well, I have already posted this question but I didn't get any good answers...actually they weren't answers, they were just unhelpful statements. But anyway,I take watercolor courses at my school. This coming school year, our art teacher wants to get out and take lots of pics to base our paintings on. The problem...I don't know where to begin! I don't live in an area where beautiful landscapes and picture perfect scenes are plentiful, so I know I will have to use some imgaination and deep thinking. Any ideas for pics to paint, or what I can get out and look for? I just really need some advice...I only started taking art last year, and i am not a very artsey person. I don't even know where to begin! HELP!!
Thank you!

I'm a photographer and I don't think you have a problem at all if you don't have a lot of nice landscapes. I would recommend that you find some really ordinary items and/or plants, I really like to use weeds, and take a picture of them really close up (macro photography). These could make for some nice watercolor still-life. Take a bouquet of flowers, for example, and get your camera close to the center of the flowers. Be aware of how close you can get, however, before your picture gets blurry as each lens has a different minimum focusing distance.

Also, try things from a different angle, for example bird's eye and worm's eye view.

Good luck!
