for my college history class I have to an "art project" ( either actual art or creative writing etc.) reflecting on a theme or issue in history-- it is supposed to "shed a new light" on the issue---rather than an obvious statement like "slavery is bad"

Anyway-- I am readinga book for my sociology class that is shocking and angering me--- about the realities of EXISTING and WORSENING racial segregation in america today--even though it is not referred to in those terms

so i was thinking of incorporating this into my art project...and having the "new light" I shed be the fact that segregation is tragically terrible and worsening and existing still today despite the naive thought of most americans

but I have NO IDEA what I could do for the actual project!? any ideas? --- i would like to do a creative writing type thing but i have no idea what i would do or use to incorporate all this

i am open to all suggestions!

p.s. this is worth 30% of my grade and college level so i need legit ideas

Try going to a courthouse once. You'll see some major racism there.

You could do your project on the irony of the justice system.

It's quite disgusting to watch how black people get treated by the judge/prosecuting attorney/magistrate/officials/etc. versus white people. At least in Chicago.
