I have to write a 1 page essay on why I want to be an officer for my OCS packet. However the reasons I want to be an officer are simply based on practicality. The training, the comfortable living with which I can support a family, not having to worry about getting laid off in tough economic times. It also looks great on a resume if I do not decide to go career. Of course I will be proud to serve my country which has given me so much, but that is merely a secondary benefit. Should I be honest about this in my essay? or simply stick to the more noble aspects: pride, duty, respect, love of country, etc., etc.? Basically, should I just be honest or tell them what I think they want to hear? Btw, I know someone is going to tell me that I am joining for the wrong reasons, and to you I say don't bother, as you know nothing.
Mathematical duck:
1) In what world is leadership training not applicable to the civilian world
2) By comfortable living, I am referring to the pay and benefits, as anyone with half a brain could have deduced
3) You may be right on this one, I don't know, but to my understanding as long as you want to stay in the army there is a spot for you. At least this is what i have been told.
4) you suck
3)
