help with a painting of flowers?

my friend's birthday is coming up and i wanted to paint something that captured her interests and is very naturalish... i am an amateur at painting chinese plum blossoms.......... so i need some help distinguishing what colors i should use, what color the background should be, ect....

the only info i can give you is that she loved the color pink, but i want to incorporate some other colors in there.
 
this has to be my best topic! im also a painter of flowers. ive always found green to be a perfect contrast to pink. i usually paint it out of focus so other flowers and leaves in the back ground blend and merge together. a sage green helps with natural light effect. this helps the subject stand out more. hope this helps!!
