ok we just got a new beagle puppy today and she's 6 weeks old and she will not stop whining and it is almost 3:30 in the morning. We have her in an oversized box with a blanket and a toy. She slept for about an hour and woke up whining trying to get out of her box. I took her outside for a while and tried to put her back in her box but she kept whining.... how do I get her to stop??

she has been taken away from her mother too early, no wonder she is crying. you stop her by taking her back to the breeder and getting her back when she is 8 weeks old

She wants one thing only, which ALL babies want, love, affection and bodily contact.

Some people put the basket next to their beds, so they may just reach out and stroke the little one. Also, your nearness and sounds of breathing will serve as a pacifier to the puppy.

She's whining because she probably misses her litter mates and mom. Let her out of the box and see if she sleeps. If she doesn't, she probably wants to play.

He's really too young to be away from his momma. Maybe a ticking clock would calm him down, and an electric throw (just part of it) inside the box on a very low setting to simulate momma's warmth. You probably cant get her to stop because she's too little to understand, but you might lessen it. Maybe making her box more appealing might help. Nothing too big, too much space being that young might be too much for her, but a small to medium with a warm blanket in part of it and a clock for sound might help.

okay i know this is horrible but just slip some rum or vadka in its water itll stop barking well thats what my friend does they just got a chiuahua

know its hard not to feel sorry for her but its just like training a young child to stay in their own room. make her box/crate fun to be in and maybe give her a 'special' toy to play with at bedtimes.

As long as shes had some food, been to the toilet, got water and a nice comfy bed you have done all you can.

I like the teddy and watch idea. we bought a teddy for the pup we want to adopt and she loves it.

good luck

She is probably just whining because she misses her family. The first night is usually the hardest night for a puppy, being in a new environment and all. This happened when we got our puppy, I'm not sure what you can do, but it should stop in the next couple of nights.

Get a crate, crate train her.
Have a hot water bottle pour hot water in, wrap it around with a blanket, put a ticking clock beside her crate. Put her in. When she whines. Ignore it. don't worry all puppies do this. If you let her sleep on your bed... 1)she'll think its okay to etc and will until the day she dies. 2) you'll wake up to a scratched, ripped pilow. 3) you'll wake up to a puddle of pee next to you. 3)She might develop separation anxiety. Don't worry, she'll be fine and soon enough she'll get over it.

It happened with both my dogs. Puppies whine at night. I think they are lonely and scared. The best solution is to put them in your bed with you. Yes, I know this is not always possible, but trust me, it will work faster than anything else.

Come on, Would you like to sleep in a box? Probably not, take it out of the box and put it beside your stomach, but make sure there is something under it except the bed sheets, in case it has a little accident
