Help with a new duc. 1098 or 848?

Check out this link…. www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7ujYl1fzhY

Or these… www.youtube.com/results?search_query=1098+vs+848&search_type=&aq=f

I looked through these before my choice was made.

I bought a 08 1098

I also figured in my height and weight in my final choice. I am 5’7” so the 1098 is a bit tall and overall big for my body frame, but I also weigh 235 lbs. So, I figured the extra HP would be utilized.

Get the 1098! Around town it has more usable power on the street. If you wanna pass a car leave it in third and just twist. You will never need to rev it out to be satisfied with the power. No droping gears, no two fingers on the brakes. The 1098 spoiles you and you will never want to ride anything less. The power is not intimidating after a few rides. And for those who say the 1098 has to much power, there on crack. Is there a such thing as to much power? I use every drop of it at least once a day. In first gear its kind of a waste because you can't pin it wide open and let her go. Butits very nice when your in third and you still have more thrust then an 848 does in first gear. and its also nice to play with your buddies that ride middle weights. And yes the 1098 is less flickable but it makes up for it in stability IMO. And stability inspirs confidence to me. I have an 06 R6 wich is a great bike but very intimidating when its leaned over because it feels a little two unstable. Very quick to turn in but unstable. On the 1098 I'm a much Better rider. That Ducati stability makes me feel way more confident. And no more chicken strips lol

+1. The more I ride my 848, the more it feels like a dedicated track bike... Go 1098 if you spend more time in the canyons...

You never have enough power; I would say go for the 1098. I just got mine 2 weeks ago and I'm impress how good the handling and torque is on that machine and I'm in the break in period not exceeding 6K can't wait go over that anyhow, If you can't have it brand new from the dealer, then buy a used one low mileage you won't be disappointed there are a ton out there.

In reading Bigcheese_20, I do have to admit that I feel a lot more confident throwing my weight into the corners and tossing the bike here and there, not realizing how big and powerful she is. The 1098 is very nimble. The strong second and third gear on this bike is unbelievable. Not that I am an expert rider (by any means) but just today I had to avoid some trash in the road and as I quickly crouched above my seat, I tossed the bike side to side as if I was riding my motocross bike, rolling out the throttle to pull through as I leaned back and let the weight off the front end if I was to hit any thing. Looking back at that instant, I felt one with the bike.
THANKS Bigcheese_20 for bringing that to light. That makes me feel great. Shit… may have to buy a new helmet. I think my head just got bigger!

hand_banana?????

are you serious????

Aliendick, is that you?

Man, are all you guys really this dumb? I don't know, but I reckon you've all just been had BIG TIME.

I apologise Mr banana if I am wrong, but something smells a bit fishy to me here.

And lastly, with a name like that, you should get a 1098

a yellowone.

No problem man. That's just how the bike makes me feel. Feels like its on rails compared to any bike I have ruden. I I have tried out a lot of bikes. It just feels like endless grip. Smooth damn near peg scraping feeling. The confidence inspiring machine I have ever been on.
