what is it?!?!? ok so i have a large puffer..... i recently had to do a total water change due to getting a larger tank..... couldnt let the tank cycle first because i had to put the tank in the same place as the old one.... (limited space in a small apartment)..... now my fish has a white spot on his head! its about the diameter of a pencil eraser.... its not fuzzy, its not raised, its not ich... i dont know what it is! he is the only one in the tank other than a sucker fish.

all my water levels are fine, except the amonia.... which is a little high because i had to add the fish right away.... but i am treating the tank with nutrafin cycle to help cycle the tank faster and an ammonia detox..... what could this white spot be?!?!?!?! how should i treat it???? i cant lose this guy, i love my puffer fish :( i know i shouldnt have put him in so soon but i really didnt have a choice.... and i couldnt keep the filter or rocks in there because i sold the tank on craigslist the same day.... i didnt expect anyone would answer the ad so soon... so please just help me out!!!

PS- i know i have been asking a lot of questions about this new tank lately, but im having a few problems with it.... and for anyone that has answered my other questions about it, thank you for your help..... im just paranoid and i really dont want to lose my little guy.... hes by far my favorite fish ive ever had.... and he was dang expensive too!!!! but thats totally beside the point, i really do love the little guy... if he dies, i can safely say, i will most likely cry... hes very friendly, even lets me pet him...... OH GOD, could that be why?????? he lets me pet him on the top of his head. he comes to the top and lets me pet him.... since puffers dont have scales im sure it makes them more succeptable to things.... did i do it?!?
wait, i just looked at it again... its only about 1/4 to 1/2 the size of a pencil eraser. and he doesnt look sick, he seems fine.... but im jsut worried

I hate when this happens, I got a huge 55 from my parents for Christmas, and I lost my prized mandarin, clownish, and coral beauty becuase of the same situation. I really did cry when they died so I feel your pain :(
It sounds like it might be a body fungus. If it just started, it may be earlry enough to treat him, try getting Maracyn, Maracyn 2, or both (worked wonders on my damsel and other clownfish) which does a really good job to fight off the fungus, fin rot, velvet, and a few other diseases. Im not sure if petting him had anyhing to do with it, but remember that humans do have oils on their skin that arent good to most fish, and since he's scaleless, it may have aggravated the fungus to grow. I really hope this helps and I hope the little guy puls through! :)
