Once upon a time, I was young. Let me tell you that it was a long time ago. Well my name is Asia. I live in a small but roomy house in the south side of Chicago. I live with my pet Chihuahua named Smile. I named him that because he can’t stop smiling. Well any way lets back to the story. I was seven when my mother died of cancer. My father, who was engulfed in grief killed himself soon after. My parents were only children whom both parents died before my time. So that meant I spent, most of my life in foster homes. I never stayed long enough so make friends. However, that was before I met Sunny Dearborn. He was 65 years old, living alone because his wife died of stroke. He became a foster parent because he wanted to help kids have a better life. Since Sunny was not getting any younger, he only took me in. He was kind to me, he never hit me or yelled at me like other foster parents, he became a second father to me. Sunny sent me to the local high school. I think it was called Argo or was it Hubbard or something else. I don’t quite remember but it does not matter. I made quite a few of friends and was an average student. One of my best friends was called Molly Fisher. We did everything together.Being a Friday, Molly and I decided to go to a party. We got drunk and got spilt up. The time Molly and me got spilt is little hazy but I did something, I will never me forget. I slept with Jason, the captain of the football team. Time past by and I thought I would close that chapter of my life, boy was I wrong. A few months later, I was feeling strange. I told Molly and she took me to the drug store to buy a pregnancy test. After buying it, I went to the bathroom located in the back of the drug store to take the test. I waited, looking at the ugly peeling paint, the fluorescent lights blinking. BEEP BEEP!!! My watch, which I had set for three minutes like the box said. I looked at the test with fear. My heart stopped, it was two pink lines. After my brain processed the information I started crying, I fell down to the dirty tile floor and just felt a cloud of doom fall over me. Molly found me and took me home. She tried to console me but left soon after. That night, I cried myself to sleep. The next day at school, someone must have seen me at the drug store because rumors were spreading like a wildfire. I was walking down the hall and I see Jason, when he saw me he just started to yell at me calling me names because someone said they thought he was the father. We just started to scream at each other. People started to crowd us watching. Finally when he said “you’re a worthless whore nobody would ever want you.” I lost it, I slapped him so hard that he fell to the floor. As I walked away I thought, “so much for the captain of the football team, no wonder the team sucks.Walking away, I just got fed up with everything so I just ran outside into the pouring rain. It seemed every drop slowed up down a fraction of a second, when I finally stopped I looked around and I was in one of those parks that people actually care about. Looking around I found that I was alone since it was raining. Soaking wet, I sat on the swing thinking about everything. Then I felt somebody looking at me, I look up and it is some guy staring at me. I think he‘s in my history class? He walks up and asks how I am feeling. His name is Adam Tipp. He’s tall, a nerd but in a cute way. He told me he saw the fight and said it was awesome how hard I hit Jason. That made me laugh. In the months to come, I got bigger and bigger. Adam and I got really close. He was helping by taking me to the doctor’s office and making me feel better whenever I needed a pick me up. I was starting to have feeling for Adam and I believed that he had the same feelings for me to
ne night Adam told me that he loved me and that this baby is his not Jason’s. He said, “When the time is right we will get married, and it will be me, you, and the baby.” At that moment I knew that be he was my soul mate, even though the time to come was coming to be hard it would also happy.Graduation day was June 14, sunny quiet day. The ceremony was held in the auditorium. Adam was called up first then my turn came. The moment I had the diploma in my hand my water broke. Adam saw my face and immediately knew. He ran on stage, carried me to the car and drove to the hospital. Six hours of labor pains, I am holding the most beautiful being in the world. I named her Halinka, when first looked at her all that pain from those six hours melted away. I looked up and saw Adam’s face, beaming with pride. At that moment, I knew my life could not get any better.Well, my life did get better. Adam and I both finished school. I became a nurse, while he taught Math at the middle school. We had three children including Halinka, Matthew, and Gosia. Even though Halinka was not biologic his, he treated her like his own. We told
