I just rec'd the salive test results and have my appt. next week to discuss w/ pharmacist; however, in the meantime, I'm alarmed by what the paperwork states:
Progesterone (17.5) and Ratio of Pg/E2 (9.8)
DHEA (349.3)
Notes at bottom state:
Progesterone to estradiol (Pg/E2) ratio and reported symptoms are consistent with estrogen dominance (what does this mean??). Supplementation with topical progesterone to corect this relative deficiency is a consideration.
The high DHEA and upper range testosterone are suggestive of metabolic syndrome (insulin resistance). Urine iodin, fasting blood sugar and insulin testing may be warranted.
The reported symptoms suggest adrenal gland dysfunction, although concomitant thyroid and/oriodine insufficiency cannot be ruled out.
Should I be freaking out? What does this all possibly mean and how urgent is this information? my next appt with my dr. isn't until Jan., but she doesn't have this saliva results.
thanks:confused:

Sounds like it could be PCOS. Insulin resistance is common with this. That is why they want to give you a fasting bld sugar test...this will indicate if you are diabetic or have a predisposition to get it (insulin resistance is kinda like a precursor to diabetes but not always). BCP'S can help straighten out your hormonal problems or the cream like they suggest. The adrenals are affected because that's where hormones are produced. I wouldn't be alarmed per se but you need to address this with an Endocrinologist and/or your gyno at the very least. Also, when you have these issues often your Thyroid is affected. When the Endocrine system has issues...it's kinda a domino affect. Your bld tests sound scary but the wording and number really make it much more scary...that's why doctors usually interpret w/o you seeing it and actually some labs won't let patients get results directly.

Does it say anything about your FSH and LH?
