Help! Tungsten T2 screen problem

Spilled some coffee on my T2 - some liquid got inside.

I had no screwdriver to disassemble Palm immediately.

After that accident have the following problem:
after waking up from sleep there is no video - only backlight is on.

Although when I attach cable from accumulator to the motherboard - palm os is loading, video is working OK, everything else seems working fine. - Until you turn it off manually or palm goes to sleep - after waking up there is no video - only white backlight.

Thanks in advance for any ideas how to solve this problem.
 
I think you're in big trouble. Since the backlight comes on, it may be that just screen needs to be replaced but I doubt it. I think the coffee got into the motherboard and shorted out something between the battery and the charging circuit. You could get a Torx 5 screwdriver and open it up to take a look and see if there is anything obvious on the motherboard but there may not be anything to see. My guess is that it will need professional repair. You can send it back to Palm or try a third party outfit like www.gethightech.com .

Actually I disassembled the unit next day after the accident - there were some stains on the cable contacts, but nothing obvious on the motherboard. I cleaned everything with pure alcohol.

So I have 2 specific questions for you:
1.What is your guess - where the potencial circuit shortage is located - on the motherboard or on the lower circuit board of the screen?
Since video works fine when I initially attach accumulator cord - my guess it is on the motherboard. What are your thoughts?

2. Do you think that cleaning the motherboard with some special cleaner (like Cramolin TUNER cleaning spray) may help? After 5 days from accident?

Or - I read some posts that suggest putting motherboard for some time into pure alcohol that will dissolve coffee stains. May it be effective?

My best guess is that's the motherboard that's the problem. All the coffee had to do was contaminate one small etch and things go haywire. Since it doesn't work now, cleaning the motherboard with tuner cleaner sprayed on Q-Tip (not on the motherboard) probably can't hurt. As for soking the motherboard in alcohol, I've never heard of this and can't help but wonder if things like resistors will survive that kind of treatment.
