My Baby will be 3 months on the 8th. My Husband and I recently noticed when we change his diaper it sometimes smells like fish! He doesn't complain when he pees. We take him a bath every 2 days
Could it be because we put Desitin on (when he has a rash) ?

Is this something I should worry about?

i just have two questions... how often do you bath your baby a day? how old is he/she?

i have a 9 month old baby boy and from the time he was 2 months old i have been bathing him 2 times a day.. once in the morning after breakfast so he would be able to have a nap in the afternoon then again closer to bed time so he would be able to sleep through the night.

as for the desitin.. i use penitin and it works better then desitin.. baby powder is always a good thing to use for every diasper change where as it absorbs moisture when he does pee andalso the smell of his stools..

massaging him/her after each bath will help his muscles relax more...

i hope everything works out

Any area that is exposed to wet/warm conditions regularly like the diaper area is always at risk for bacterial or yeast infections. It may also be that your child has urinary condition. For my child I would consult with my child's pediatrician or nurse as soon as possible. Continue diapers changes as soon as you notice wetness or fecal matter in diaper. Bathe with mild soaps & always rinse well. I also do not recommend allowing small children to sit in bubble baths or sudsy water. Application of commercial diaper creams will help prevent risk of skin scalding from exposure to acidic urine but has no benefits of bacteria/fungal infections. Please seek the guidance of your child physician at your soonest opportunity. With early intervention you can avoid detrimental or painful health concerns/complications. Best wishes to you & your bundle of joy!

Not good. Please read link below and have your child see a doctor.

well whenever you get yeast infection, it smells like fish but i doubt your baby will get yeast infection. try to put baby powder on and if it still smells, go to the doctor.
