help reprogramming samsung phone

i have a samsung sph-a660 (sprint) phone that my neighbor had cricket service on. she didn't pay her bill and said i could have the phone. so i went to a cricket store and got my own cricket account setup. the rep at the store told me that he he couldn't get my phone to work due to the fact that it isn't a cricket phone and he didn't know the codes to program the phone. he gave me two #'s; mdn# and min# and said those were all that someone who knew the program codes would need to know to get it working.
well i have since found codes to get into the "SVC menu" (which allows viewing and editing the "NAM CDMA > phone nuraber" and the "NAM > MSID".)
i have also found the codes to get into the "Debug Menu".
one of the last cricket csr's i talked to said that i need to get the "readme firts (RMF) card for my phone to be able to access the settings that i will need to access.
can anyone help me make sense out of any/all of this? Please!!
 
As you said the phone was being used by your neighbor on Cricket already, that means it has the correct SID for your area as well as Cricket's PRL programed to it. If the service rep activated the ESN of the phone, all that is needed is for you to go into the service programing menu with the code you obtained. (or SVC Menu as you put it) Enter your MDN (mobile directory nuraber) where it asks for phone nuraber and the MIN (mobile identification nuraber) where it asks for the MSID. The phone should work at this point. If the rep didn't activate your ESN you should still be able to dial 611send and get Cricket's CS to activate the ESN. If the system asks for the last 4 of your SS nuraber before the general options menu then you know for sure you entered the nurabers correctly since the system recognized your account. Good luck. I should add that you didn't say if you actually got into the SVC menu with the code you found. Most phones require a 6 digit code called a service programing code (SPC) or more accurately the master subsidy lock (MSL) to gain access to the programing function. Some carriers (Verizon, Alltel) don't lock their Phones and the code is 000000. I am not sure of Sprint phones, but if it is locked there are ways to get the code, software and a data cable will be needed.
