I am going to install my new lights on my bike and remove the back tail piece all together. Is there any other way to do this without having to remove the exhaust. Please advise and can some one repost the link to download the ducati 1098 manual. Pictures to follow when finished.

I loosened the 2 bolts holding the cans and removed the screw holding the straps at the end of the cans. That should give you enough clearance to remove the light/tag housing.

removing the exhaust is a cinch... do you have a spring puller (not a must but it makes it easier).

putting them back on is also pretty easy. just takes a little bit of manipulation and twisting to get them to line up correctly.

don't forget to clean the cans with brake cleaner (or something like that) to get the finger prints off.

You don't have to touch the mufflers or the exhaust. On the front of the light/license bracket is a panel up in there with three socket head screws. remove that panel. Disconnect the wiring. WAAAY up at the top inside the assembly are two socket head screws that hold the whole thing on. You have to feel for them. 5 or 6 mm. Remove them. Then just wiggle and work the entire mess forward and down and it'll come right out.

Did an Evoluzione plate and blinker relocater over the weekend. Piece of cake and didn't have to touch the exhaust or remove anything. Here are the instructions . . .

I have the full termi exhaust if that makes any difference. I'm telling you that I took that whole business out without touching the mufflers. Putting it back in was another story.

Full or half Termis or stock exhaust it's all the same. No reason to even touch your exhaust. I used some long allen wrenches and everything came off and went back up no problem. Took me all of a half an hour. Piece of cake. check the instructions.
