Heya guys, these are the left over questions from my HW that I need help and confirmation on. Thanks!
1. In which direction is Venus moving when it is at greatest elongation?
A. It is not possible to say since the direction is different from one greatest elongation to the next
B. Perpendicular to the line from Venus to the Earth
C. Directly toward or away from the Earth
D. Directly toward or away from the Sun
E. It is at perfect rest
2. When Venus is at superior conjunction:
A. The time between sunset and the time at which Venus sets is a maximum.
B. It is at its greatest angle from the Sun as seen from the Earth.
C. It is at its smallest distance from the Earth.
D. It is on the celestial meridian at 6 PM as seen from Rutgers University.
E. It is at its greatest distance from the Earth.
3. What is the angle between the line from the Earth to Jupiter and the line from the Earth to the Sun when Jupiter is at opposition?
A. 45°
B. 90°
C. 135°
C. 0°
E. 180°
I figured out #3, it's 180 degrees.
please help with # 1 and 2!
