My nephew is 19 and his girlfriend is turning 16.please dont judge.they love each other.
they live together with her parents in california.
she is pregnant.
and they are scared that he will get in trouble.
her parents approve.(again,please dont judge)
she lives with her parents but has a foster parent.she is released from foster care in six weeks.
can he get in trouble if she puts his name on the birth certificate?
because shes a minor?
i looked for cali laws on the net,but couldnt find what i was looking for.please if u no of any links or any correct info,it would help.thanks.
worried auntie~

Wow! I don't have substantial evidence to back this up but...

I don't think there would be any problems unless somebody wanted to press charges against him. it sounds like everyone is cool with this so...

I think it'd be fine, but I can't tell you the law.

Good luck!

Although many states have an age of consent of 16 or 17, California's remains at 18. Therefore it is illegal for them to be having sex. If the age difference is less than 3 years, then it is a misdemeanor, if the age gap is larger, it is a felony. Anyone can press charges at any time, including her, say 5 years down the road if they break up and she wants to "get back at him."

In my opinion, it is important for him to be there for this baby. You can always leave him off of the birth certificate for now and add him down the road for a small fee. Good luck!

Awe im 16 and my husband to be in 4 days is 20..
were living with my parents...we almost have same lives.
but, as long as her parents don't press charges..he won't go to jail...
