Hello there
Its been a while since I posted but briefly, I had a plif with hardware L4 L5 S1 two years ago last month. Most all is well except for sitting more than 30 minutes. Also standing but sitting is my biggest problem. My question is. Have any of you found a way to sit without pain on a long flight. I am flying to visit family and it will be approx a 5 hour flight. In Sept I flew to NY which was approx a 2 hour flight and about 1 hour in I was in pretty bad shape. I ended up standing at the back of the plane for the rest of the way due to the very very helpful flight crew. It might be useful to mention that I had taken a norco 10/325 just before boarding, and although it helped some, within an hour of sitting I was pretty much hopeless in pain. I have asked my pain DR for a prescription of valium for this trip and hope that if I take both a norco and valium I might be able to make it. My question is, have anyone with a similar issue with sitting following a lurabar fusion found any way or methoRAB or helpful products to sit more comfortably on a plane? Found a particular use of medications that help? I appreciate any advice you might have.

I have flown many time and am fused from T9-sacrum. We went to Japan last year to see our son and that was a 14 hour flight, but I was in business class which made a world of difference.

The valium should help you make the flight bearable. I would also ask your doctor for something stronger than Norco. Also a muscle relaxer helps. Then you take a couple of pillows with you because you can't seem to get them from the airlines anymore. YOu just adjust yourself as best you can with the pillows and the meRAB. Plus you get up to wlak every so often. Having an isle seat is the best, and if you can get one with some extra legroom that is even better.

I hope that you can have a a good flight. Biting your tongue for five hours isn't the best way to travel.....also, remeraber to do any exerccises that you used to do..they will help keep the blood flowing and your muscles moving...

good luck.

If you can afford first class, do it. I have heard that it's not as expensive as you might think-all depenRAB on your economic situation. I would @ least call and find out how much. Also, I had a six level fusion three years ago, and one year ago we flew to Florida. It was a 2plus hour flight. My husband, kiRAB and mom came too. My mom and I were concerned about how I would do on the plane as you are now. I believe it was the airlines that told her that the section right behind first class has more leg room. So we sat there. You might want to call your travel agent or the airlines and ask where is it most comfortable to sit (besides first class) for someone like you. I did have more leg room and sat in an aisle seat like ibakeandpray suggested. Do everything else she said too,loll!!..Have a nice trip!!...janiee:)
