Help PLEASE!!!Check engine light came on 2day and my remote would not start

the engine but turned the car on.? My check engine light came on today and then my remote would not start the engine either. This just happened and I've never experienced this before. Would you know what this means???? Its an 05 Pontiac G6 GT. However, I will be taking it to the dealer on Monday but I would like to get an idea of what this could be and possible COST!! Thank you!
 
Cold weather kills batteries! There's a great chance this is what's bothering you. I would try a new battery. ($100) Get the Die hard Gold from Sears. Good Luck! R D.
