Help on understanding muslim culture?

I am caucasian and my b/friend is muslim , I am meeting his parents shortly and they are highly religious and respected in their community, both myself and my boyfriend are not. I have never had any experience in the muslim culture only a bit that my boyfriend has told me, which is more on the religious side. Can you please tell me what are some things that are allowed and not allowed when meeting and being around muslims as I do not want to disrespect them and or embarrass myself. I know there is a whole heap of things so if you can just let me know the main ones that would be helpful.
 
Do not be too forward and submit yourself to the men. Cast your eyes down alot. Sit in the back of the mosque and keep your mouth shut and your face covered. Raise your children Muslim or you will be thought of as an infedel worthy of death. Ignore the fact that even though your future in-laws are upper middle class, americanized, liberal, and modern that Islam hold a billion people in abject poverty and ignorance.

Other than this everything will be very cool and cozy I am sure.
