O man i'm so trying this when i get home today!!! LOL. couldn't you do it using the bluetooth connection or does it have to be teatherd?

ok setup your dial up connection to
dial #777
username : [email protected]
password: cricket

and set wap.mycricket.com in your internet browser as server name, and 8080 as port . should do ok. i just tested this out myself not bad connecting with the env

exactly. u gott have your phone workin with mobile web. and then you have to make sure you got those set up in you proxy settings for your browser

are you using a data card or tethering a phone? is it a cricket card/phone? does it have cricket firmware on it or another carrier's.

please provide us with a little more information.

I doubted you!! WTF!? Upped the 1050 prl to my 6700 and after the reset the phone displayed "EV" at the top in liou of "1X" and now I'm hella excited! Its Lightning to what it was like with 1x! Too bad in a few days when I go back to KC it'll be back in 1x :(

Maybe if I'm lucky when I get back I'll have found they already had EVDO operational in KC!

Just did a speedtest on my 6700 and got a faster speed than the Verizon EVDO card I'm using on this computer right now. Thats pretty sorry.

Cricket would sell me on an EVDO card right this very second if they'd let me use ports other than 1080 and 8080. I need VPN/rlogin/ssh!!!!!!!!

I keep hearing people say they are tethering on cricket, can you give step by step instructions for my samsung sch-r500 w/ bluetooth or cable i will do either, and i have EVDO in the Portland Area too.

I do IT work and NEED a broadband card but my company doesn't provide one. Frankly I'm tired of spending 70 bux a month for Verizon's slow *** EVDO card.. If Cricket would let me have full access to the interweb I'd get one tomorrow. Hell, I'd even buy their damned card and not use my own!!

Cricket branded r-500...

install drivers for phone on PC

on phone
menu > 9 > # > 333333 > enable "7 dun mode"

Go to "4 port map" and setup data/diagnotics for either Bluetooth or USB depending on what you are going to use.

back back

For BT
menu > "7 tools/utils" enable and add PC as trusted device.
do same on PC.
it should install a BT modem and serial "com" port when connected right.

OR

For USB connection
connect phone to usb cable,
it should install a BT modem and serial "com" port when connected right.

Create manual dialup Connection
connect using r-500 not internal pc modem

set browser proxy to wap.mycricket.com
port 8080

Man idk if i'm missing something here but cricket offer's a broadband card of their own, in fact 90% of the time I'm on the internet i'm using their card and it lets you do everything.

I play games, I download music, files, etc. all w/ no problems.

About the VPN though i'm not sure but it has an option under "Session" that says "Start VPN"

idk though, maybe your asking something else and I just didn't catch it

the only thing that is blocked is VOIP services (competition). other than that it is fair game, but you'll have a private ip address and you're not supposed to use it for any sort of server.

well i flashed a razor v3m phone to cricket and i flash the evo prl and when i did that it gave me 3g so i downloaded a modem driver and tried to connect to my laptop but cant get it to work
