Help on Condition of Nokia 7610 battery

I've an old Nokia 7610 (purchased in 2006) and even though its battery is still working, I would like to know how to find out if the battery needs replacement? Is there any test for it? If i keep on using this battery (charging and recharging often) is there any chance it can explode?
 
According to my experience, there should no problem to continue using the battery. Of course, as the battery become older, the the usage time will become shorter. If you can accept to charging frequently, there should not problem.
