i had a 7 speed bike.and the gear shifter broke. So i made it a single speed and left the back seven gears sprocket on. But it on the 5 sprocket and its two hard to pedal. How do i put it on the 3 sprocket and the chain is tight now and don't know how to make it loose because there is a chain tensor on it. please help?

If the chain is too tight against the tensioner, the answer's pretty clear: you need a new chain that's cut to the correct (slightly longer) length, OR you might be able to add links if you have some handy.

You want to maintain your chainline. You'll need to move the desired cog (#3) to the position of the current working cog (#5). Best bet is to remove the unused cogs and replace them with a spacer kit. If you have a freewheel instead of a cassette, disregard any of this.
