Help! newb question

So i just picked up a unlocked a moto cliq.. my concern is that i have never had a data plan on my account (at&t). this phone seems to have alot of different apps and widgets updating themselfs continuosly.. i have no problem with while im at home beacuse of my wifi that i can connect to.. but when im not on a wifi connection it seems to still be updating.. which i dont want until i upgrade my plan to unlimited data.. How do i turn off these features or turn off internet acess all together when im not on a wifi connection???
 
You may want to check your manual as it must tell you, or go on a forum specific to your phone. I'm on a G1, running 1.6, and there is no "formal" way to kill data. (Data roaming, yes). But, I use an app called APNdroid which is the only reliable method I've found that kills all data interface except wifi. Also, there is a "hidden menu" which allows you to select "GSM only" but I've found that to be unreliable.
 
u can't turn it off, its a part of motoblur. the best thing u can do is turn off auto sync in settings and remove every blur widget and restart

you could put your phone in airplane mode but then u won't get calls or texts either
