Help needed my key won't turn in the ignition of my 2001 Jeep Cherokee.....?

It started fine when I drove it to the bank and the grocery store. Turned off the Jeep; when I came out to start it the key would not turn at all. First time this ever happened. What gives??? Could it be that because the wheels are not straight but turned to the right when I turned it off has caused this??
 
Yes it could be that. Wiggle the steering wheel back and forth as you try to turn the key. Good luck.
 
Some ignitions have strange design features that cause them to stick or seem to lock at times. Try to turn the key to the left rather than the right then quick turn it to the right while pressing upwards (for some vehicles it may be downwards). If this does not work try attempting to warm (not using extreme amounts of heat) the ignition somehow, with a blow dryer or something and then try to use the ignition.

Try to straighten the wheels first if possible.
 
Security feature. Steering wheel lock.

Turn the wheel to the left while turning the key.
