Help! My Sims 3 game keeps blacking out!?

I bought the game recently and installed it on my Acer Veriton M661 computer. For the last 3 days I've been playing live mode, create a sim, buy mode etc. for 2 to 4 hours a day. However, tonight after about an hour of game play the screen blinked for several seconds before turning black and unresponsive. I've restarted the computer four times and each time the game only last for about five to ten minutes before blacking out again.

Why is this happening?
How do I fix it?

Thanks:)
I'm pretty certain that I meet the system reqs...

i personally think its the game itself i mean have you seen the question on yahoo its all about why there sims 3 game wont work so i think that the company just made some crap put it on a c.d. and tried to make a fortune so personally if i were you i would take it back and btw i think sims 2 is better i mean the graphics are better and you dont get as much problems with it

sounds like a video card problem to me, try to update your driver, check to see if this happens in other directx or openGL programs
