I have a Cocker Spainel Born Sept 13, Got him Dec 5. Wont stop whining when i put him in the crate at night and he wont stop whining. the first night i let him sleep in the bed with me until he was out cold! then i put him in the crate, he whined for about a minute then went back to sleep then whined in the morning, but thats because he wanted to be taken out and i understand that. then the next night i put him in the crate down stairs and he whined until i couldnt take it anymore and went and got him. He ended up sleeping in my bed most of the night until i put him in at about 4 am and wake me up at 630 and i took him out but wouldnt go back to sleep, and neither did i. and any where i go, he follows me, he whines if he cant see me. I dont no what to do. Please help!!!

You've already shot yourself in the foot. You gave into the whining which teaches him that he'll get what he wants if he whines. Do not give into it. Put him in his crate and let him whine as much as he wants. Then get up in the middle of the night to take him outside to potty. After that he goes straight back to his crate where he can whine as much as he wants. This is how it goes with puppies. All puppy owners have to go through it. Invest in ear plugs and wait it out.

The biggest issue with training puppies not to whine is the trainer/owner (you) end up getting so tired of listening to them whine, you give in and give the dog what he wants to prevent the whining. The dog then thinks he can get whatever he wants by whining all day long. See the problem? So, I suggest put the crate farther away from yours at night. Once you put him to bed for the night make sure you don't give him any attention if he whines (because he is whining for attention). Put a blanket or towel over the crate and turn on the radio (pretty loud). Do that every night. He should figure out that whining will get him nowhere. You can also do it during the day. Just make sure you don't let him out when he's whining. Make him stop before you give him attention. Also, make sure before you put him in the crate he has had a chance to go to the bathroom.

put in earplugs if you have to, just don't give in. good luck!

he's still young our jack russell cried for her mommy for a while just let him know ur not gonna leave and try talking to him cause dogs really do understand people

it is hard but you can not give in to him. the behavior will only get worse, also a piece of advice that i did with my pup was to put in a piece of your clothing, your scent will comfort him a lot.
