Help, my outdoor altar was vandalized--what should I do?

I have four altars, three in my house and one outdoors. When I went outside this evening to light some candles and leave an offering, the stone bench I used as an altar was mangled. The top of the bench was overturned, the rosary I had on it was broken, one of the offering bowls was filled with red paint, there were horrible things spray painted across the bottom side of the bench, the chimneys of some of my candles had been shattered, and the statue I had on it was spray-painted and shattered.

I don't know who did it and I don't know what to do. I should probably call the police, but I live in a fairly conservative area, and I'm a bit afraid of something worse happening.

I have no idea what to do.
Blue Foots: I'm a Vodouisant. Rosaries are used in Vodou as well.

Maybe you should keep your religion a more private matter. Public displays of religious lunacy are truly sickening and it is always bound to offend someone.

You should make two calls. One to the police, and one to the ACLU.

This is a hate crime. Be SURE to call the ACLU as well as the police just in case the police dont want to do anything about it.

And get a nice big guard dog, along with motion sensor lights, hooked up to a security service that will send the police when the alarm goes off.

And a videocam and leave it running, because criminals love to return to the scene of the crime and do it again, especially hatecrimes like that.

You could install a sort of motion activated light/webcam. It would let you know if someone came by and the light may scare them off.

if you are serving the god of heaven and believe in jesus christ that has come died and risen then if you had a place of prayer or a place to retreet to to pray do not be afraid your alter is where you make it you are the temple of the holy spirit . if you believe in this jesus the his spirit lives within you and if you just sat on a rock at the beach then thats your alter if you kneeled down on your knees at your bedside thats your alter where you would meditate or pray to god.

Call the police, let the vandals know this was a crime and and you are no pushover
