Help! My husband has these weird, red dry bumps all around his mouth.?

We were out yesterday and by the end of the night, these really red, dry bumps and reddish skin formed around his lips. They honestly look like a clown's red makeup, and they're irritating him and he's complaining that they burn. It's bothering me too because we're out on vacation, and he doesn't even want to go outside anymore.

Does anyone know what they are or how they're caused? He says they're painful and itchy, and that vaseline is helping soothe the pain but not by much.

Please help! We want to be able to go finish our vacation
But does anyone know what it is and what causes it?
 
You could try Aveeno Anti-Itch Concentrated lotion. It's usually located in the pharmacy isle.

Applying wrapped ice may help ease the pain too.

It may be an allergic reaction to something he ate or a product he used. If you're at a hotel room, it could have something to do with the pillow cases, like a chemical or fragrance that he's sensitive to.

That happens to me when I eat peanuts (food allergy).
