I have huge koi plus 3 sturgeon in our huge pond, which is not overstocked,we have had this pond and these fish for a good 7yrs now, a few days ago a small koi died, yesterday we can see 1 large koi on the bottom on his side, barely alive, last eve we noticed the baby sturgeon was dead, plus the huge sturgeon was on his back at the top of the water like half dead, the other huge sturgeon looks fine,we have continued to feed the sturgeon but they didnt wanna know food this winter, and as its pellets there is plenty of pellets on the floor of the pool if they want which cos the water is so cold the pellets have stayed edible.....any ideas why this is happening, my huge filter is on 24.7 the pond is 1000gall and its a huge pond, water is crystal clear as always.
LOL, no there are no plants in the pond, nothing has been added to the pond, and no rocks on the bottom, and the filter is cleaning the water 24.7, thanks for this advice anyway..lol.
No i dont think they are too old either,as they are all diff ages,i am sofa bound recovering from an operation right now ill try get my mum to help me do water quality tests asap.
Yes poisoning was my idea too, but my only thoughts for poisoning are to half drain the pond and give the ill fish a salt bath, but its too cold to do either of these, and am worried if i try the rest of my fish will go in 2 shock at being disturbed as the temp is mega cold right now, but then if i dont we may loose more....its catch 22.!!!
